Cebu, Cebu, Cebu… This place seems like the favorite vacation place for everyone. From summer to all year round, I could perfectly say you can do a lot of things in here such as shopping. Eat variety of cuisines at different restaurants, swimming, adventure taking, and don’t forget island hopping. Choose better ways to spend your days in Cebu because you know what you want. You know what is in store for you. Eating and shopping is mainstream and you can’t do a perfect list of new things that you have done for the entire year. Try something new and share it to your friends and families. Don’t get attached to your comfort zone.

Island hopping in Cebu is one of those things you have to try. You can probably do it for a week of longer than that. A month maybe? Doesn’t matter as long as you did. Here are 5 islands of Cebu that must be included in your island hopping itinerary.

1. Malapascua Island

Malapascua Island is located in Northern tip of Cebu. This island is an isolated island so you have to expect that there are a few people in there but resorts and restaurants are available of course since it is also one of the tourist spots in Cebu. Most of the visitors purposely have their trip in Malapascua for diving. It has a world-class diving facility and please if you are already in there, don’t miss out diving with the thresher sharks.

Unfortunately, strong typhoon named Yolanda hit last 2013 in the Philippines and Cebu was one of those greatly hit especially northern Cebu. Palm trees in this island were down and some of the walls and roofs of resorts have to be rebuilt. Trying all their best to re-open these facilities, they succeeded and it’s now welcoming tourists again.

2. Bantayan Island

Want to have a laid-back kind of holiday? Still located in Northern Cebu, Bantayan Island is such a wonderful island to visit. There is a long stretch of Sugar Beach, white sand beach, and coconut trees. Sunset is awaited from the travellers because it is one of those sunsets you’d wish you have seen in life because of the view of the island.

Resorts are everywhere and not only do you have skiing, surfing, diving, but you can go and see Ogtong cave where you can also swim in the water inside. It’s best to go there during the months of January – June. Book your trip next year and have fun. Meet new faces.

3. Camotes Island

Located east of Cebu Island. Glistening white sand and still blue waters undeniably attracts people both local and foregin. Camotes got its name from “sweet potatoes.” Years before when Spaniards came to the Philippines, they came to this island and they would ask of what the place is called but they aren’t sure so they just mentioned the word “Camote” meaning sweet potatoes since they do these every time for harvesting. Since then it was renamed to “Camotes.” Composes also of 4 towns, when you visit there, you would have a lot of things to do.

A tropical island life. Try swimming at Santiago Beach and Bakhaw Beach. Do island tour to see Lake Danao, Timabu Cave, Panganuron Falls, Guadalupe Cave, and Busay waterfalls. For a day-trip these activities would sure make a busy get-away.

4. Mactan Island

Mactan Island is by far the busiest island and filled with luxurious resorts in Cebu. Near Cebu city, Mactan island is known for its elegant hotels and world class resorts that entitles you to spend more money than the rest of the islands. Some of the best resorts in Mactan Island is the Plantation Bay, Crimson Resort and Spa, Shangri La hotel and resort.

It’s not a hassle to go there since it is connected to Cebu city by bridge. And also, I forgot to mention, the Philippines second largest international airport is located here so wherever you are now, you can have direct flights going here. Simply fun!

5. Sumilon Island

The only island mentioned in South Cebu in this list is Sumilon Island. It’s nearer when you travel from Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental. Very serene and peaceful, the island has its resort which is the Bluewater Sumilon Island Resort.

You can book with them and they will have to arrange your activities for the day and if you choose to stay there at night. It’s so much better if you have extra cash on. The resort is quite expensive but it is worth spending especially for couples. It gets romantic at night since the island is not that chaotic. More silent and more relaxing.

Conclusion

These are 5 islands you have to visit in Cebu. From one island, go to the next and experience what it brings. There are also islands within one Island like Camotes and Bantayan. I wrote this list generally. You can search more specific islands within one island and believe me, they are still lovely and beautiful. What are you waiting for? Book your trip now!
