Discover Puerto Galera: 5 things to do in the most populated beach in the Philippines

I should've made the title, rediscover and not discover. Sure, Puerto Galera is one of the most sought after destination in the Philippines if you want a quick beach fix. And why not? It's near the metro, it give you the detached island vibe, and it's cheap. So it's crowded, yes. And there are a lot of local and foreign tourists. So you must be thinking right now, "Why are you directing me here?"

One reason is because of the natural attractions that they have here. You don't get to go to mountains and beaches in one go, plus a number of waterfalls as well. Second reason is because you don't have to stay at the crowded area. Even though this place is really popular, you can stay at a hidden resort, away from the hustle and bustle of it all.

1. Stay in Buri

Buri resort and spa is enchanting. You will feel like you aren't staying in Puerto Galera and instead, you're in Palawan or Boracay. They have suites with small private pools, great for couples or honeymooners. They have family cottages as well if you decide to bring all your kids with you. If the small pool in your own backyard doesn't suit you, they have a pool in the middle of the resort.

3. Trek Mt. Halcon

There are quite a few things that you need to remember if you would like to climb Mt. Halcon. First of all, you need to bring your own gear, and second of all you need a permit from the Baco municipality. Once you have all of these, you are transported to a Mangyan village named Bayanan. This is the place where you can get your guide and porters. If you want to climb this up and down, without staying the night, it would take you around 12 Hours.

Conclusion

A lot of people are not visiting Puerto Galera anymore because it's crowded and has been dubbed as the poor man's Boracay. But if you choose to stay in an enclosed and exclusive place and visit specific destinations and not go to the overcrowded beach, then you'll enjoy every bit.
