We think of so many things to do in the Philippines. Some visit a city to another. Some an island to another and others just hop on to whatever they think is best and fits their taste. Now, let’s take you to another city of the Philippines that has conquered the modern way of discipline.
You all want to travel in a safe place even how crowded it is or how few the people are. You don’t want the hassle of uncertainty and unsure comfortability because in the first place you don’t know the people who are living in a certain area. Unfamiliar of the faces you meet every day and how they live their daily lives. The right thing for that is to fit in. Here are the 5 things to do in Davao City, 7th of the safest places in the world.
1. Spend leisure time at Eden Nature Park and Resort
Looking for some refreshing vacation? Nature would fit you right there when you want a rejuvenating kind of space for the holiday or even for normal days. Sometimes, we just want to step out of the crowded places, breathe, and enjoy life with nature. This extreme emotion would bring us stress that I believe that everyone wants to avoid. Eden Nature Park and Resort is a mountain resort at about 3,000 above sea level. The resort offers everything you need. Whether you are looking for leisure, spiritual retreat, moderate adventure, or attending/planning a special occasion, this place is for you.
Planning to stay? Don’t worry they have accommodations and they have affordable rates. Their vista restaurant serve meals that are mouth-watering. You can never get enough.
2. Eat Durian
The most popular fruit in Davao. People outside Davao would love to bring this fruit in their hometown and share it to their kids and relatives. At first, you will have an impression of the fruit to be disgusting because of its foul odor. And I mean rotten odor but when you taste it, it leaves you surprised. Yes!
Most of the people will hate this fruit first, when they have the chance to taste and eat it, they could even have the whole fruit for themselves. Eat it like a monster. The fruits has thorns that covers it so when you open it, make sure to be careful but if you’re really not familiar with it, then you can let the vendor open it. I guess they will charge it free.
3. See exotic animals at Davao Crocodile Park
This park showcases exotic animals such as crocodiles, eagle, Philippine deer, tigers, parrot and orangutan. The entrance fee is P150.00, just an affordable fee for an experience in a lifetime. Get the chance to see up close the Philippine exotic animals. Even tigers and snakes are there. This is more of like a park rather than a zoo since there are lots of things to see and experience than just seeing the animals.
Make sure to be cautious as some of the animals are, well not that wild but unpredictable. Although they are secured in a cage, don’t try to provoke them or shout at them. They can be at their worst behaviour. Simply enjoy the fun trip and get to know other creatures.
4. Have a great adventure thrill at Zip City
When you read the above place, what were you thinking? Zip City? I might as well say that we have the same thing in mind. Zip city is one of the places that is centered with adventure and thrill action. Aside from the rides that you can take advantage at, this probably is one of those places in Davao that is scenic and accessible.
If you have fear of heights, then it’s most likely you won’t try this but I suggest to conquer your fear. As you ride on the 320 meters cable and 120 feet above ground, you get to see the nature below you. Don’t afraid to look down because you will miss out the beautiful view. Others say they tend to forget that they are traversing as they observe the view below them.
5. Swim and reminisce at The Japanese Tunnel Resort
Way back World War II, the Japanese had the tunnel for its exchanges and secret communication as well as hide-out for most cases. Located at the Matina Balusong. At first the owners of the land don’t know about this tunnel, they didn’t construct the tunnel with the resort on purpose. It was accidentally discovered as they went and built structures mainly for the resort. Later they knew that the Japanese used this location.
Because of this, the owners of the land took advantage to attract visitors to the resort. Now, it had become one of the tourist attractions in Davao. Not only does it have a historic tunnel but a restaurant, a pool, and an accommodation that unwinds every individual willing to stay.
There you go! The top 5 things you have to try in Davao. Different things to try for different personalities. Aside from the 5 things above, try their local cuisines, experience the kind of festival they have. There are also parties that are present in the city or in the province, just be in a safe place. Anyway, you are at the safest city in the Philippines. Add that to your list.
