5 Museums, both Eccentric and Cultural, to Visit in Bangkok

After you've had your share of the temples, the islands and beaches, and the walking under Thailand's heat, you may want to opt for a more relaxing and less rigorous tour of Bangkok. Lo and behold, Bangkok has a lot, and I mean a lot of museums. Think over 20. And that's only in the capital. You do not want to know how many more they have outside of Bangkok. But since we want you to have the best of the best, here are the five museums that you should visit whilst in Bangkok.

1. Museum of Contemporary Art

The marvelous paintings are the best things hanging on the walls of this exceptional museum. There are also great sculptures scattered around the property that are perfect examples of how Thai artists combine traditions and modern art. You have a lot of museums all over the world named "museum of contemporary art" and you might have gone to some of them, and I assure you, Thailand's bit will not disappoint.

Every now and then, they also hold exhibitions and workshops, sometimes conventions with speakers so if you're into the art scene, you can go to their website and check their activities schedule.

Prepare to spend the whole day in this place. Just kidding, perhaps half the day? Before you even enter the galleries, you will get immersed in the multitude of art stores, cafes, and even the man who sketches you. You will even say some, "Oooohs and Aaaaahs," whilst marvelling at the architectural structure of the building.

After strolling for about two to three hours, as there are just so many things to look at, you can sit down on any of the available lounges and just chill. Then you can proceed to the art galleries for another, let's say two to three hours. There goes your day!

The museum boasts of medical anomalies, preserved body parts, and a variety of unusual health conditions. If you aren't the kind of person who gets turned away with these visuals, then this place is really worth a visit.

Seriously? A condom museum? Why, yes. A condom museum it is. The ministry of health of Thailand set up this museum to shun away the shyness of Thais when it comes to condom talk. Here, you won't just see different kinds of condoms from around the globe, but there are also health workers who demonstrates how condoms are made, their strength and elasticity, and even how to properly use them. Nothing to be ashamed of, right? It may be worth a visit just for laughs or if you are really interested in condoms.

Would you like to be "Thai-nized" and embrace the essence of being Thai? This museum aims to let you know about the Thai people and what it means to be Thai, how they got where they are right now and how they continue to live up to everything that is Thai. You might also be surprised at the instruction to "touch everything" inside the museum. It's perfectly accepted.

Conclusion

If you want a mixture of the unique museums and at the same time, see art and culture, then this list is definitely for you. Just be wary of the opening hours of each museum, and where they are located so you can plan accordingly. Start with which one is farthest and end with the museum closest to your accommodation so at the end of the tour, you will be inches away from your sleeping chambers.
